The Italian Association for the Study of Comparative
Economic Systems (Associazione Italiana
per lo Studio dei Sistemi
Economici Comparati -
AISSEC) was founded in Florence on April 7th, 1984. AISSEC is a non-profit association whose main
purpose is to promote study and research, both theoretical and empirical, in
the field of comparative economic systems. To attain its aim the Association
organizes conferences and scientific exchanges among its members and with
scholars of related fields, stimulates research activities, fosters the
publication of scientific works and establishes connections with similar
foreign associations. More recently, the focus of comparative research
work has been broadened to the countries belonging to the European Union, to
the Transition economies, and to the emerging countries. AISSEC is
affiliated to the Italian Society of Economists (SIE), to which also belong,
among the others, the Italian Society of Industrial Economics
(SIEPI), the Italian Society of Labour
Economics (AIEL), and the Italian Society of Public Economics (SIEP). On October 25 and 26, 1984, the Association
held its First Scientific Conference at the University of Turin. The 2nd
Conference was held in 1985 at the University of Trento; the 3rd Conference
at the University of Siena in 1986; the 4th Conference in Sorrento (Istituto Universitario
Orientale of Naples) in 1987; the 5th Conference at the University of Pavia
in 1988; the 6th Conference at the University of Urbino
in 1989; the 7th Conference at the University of Verona in 1990; the 8th
Conference at the University of Trieste in 1991; the 9th Conference was held
at the University of Milan in 1993; the 10th Conference was held at the
University of Turin in 1995; the 11th Conference was held at the University
of Roma "La Sapienza" in 1997; the 12th and 13th Conferences were held at the
University Siena in 1999 and in 2001; the 14th Conference was held at the
University of Naples in 2003; the 15th Conference was held in Castellammare di
Stabia (University of Naples) in 2006; the 16th Conference was held in Parma
(University of Parma) in 2007; the 17th Conference (25-27 June, 2009) was
held in Perugia (University of Perugia); the 18th Conference (23-24 June
2011) was held in Macerata (University of Macerata); the 19th Conference
was held in Trento (23-25 October 2014); the 20th Annual Meeting was held in
Milan, at Bocconi University, following the AISSEC Workshop held in Rome at
LUISS University on September 30, 2016. In collaboration with the Turin Centre on Emerging
Economies of the University of Turin, AISSEC has organized the Workshop:
"Asian emerging economies in the post crisis era: growth trajectories,
challenges and perspectives" (Turin, March 12-13,
2015). In collaboration with DISPOC, University of Siena, AISSEC has
organized at the Department of Political Science, on March, 20, 2015, the
Workshop: "Power without egemony?". As co-founder
of the World Comparative Economics Association, AISSEC has taken part with
papers and sessions organized by its members in the FIRST WORLD CONGRESS OF
COMPARATIVE ECONOMICS, University of Rome 3, Rome, June 25-27, 2015. Since 1992 the activity of the Association has
been subdivided into thematic sections, with the aim to foster scientific
debates on the various research fields. At present, the proposed sections are
the following: -
Economics and Institutions In addition to its national conferences,
AISSEC has also organized numerous single-theme international workshops. During the Urbino
Conference, a group of economists from several European countries decided to
promote the institution of a European Association for Comparative Economic
Studies (EACES). The founding General Assembly and the First
Scientific Conference of the EACES were held at the University of Verona on
September 27-29, 1990, jointly with the Seventh AISSEC Conference. The X
General Conference of EACES was held in Moscow in August 2008. EACES publishes
an on-line scientific journal, EJCE (European Journal of Comparative Economics),
freely downloadable from the web. |

AISSEC Awards for
Young Scholars During the Biennal
Scientific Conference the Association assigns awards to the best doctoral or
degree dissertations in the fields of comparative economics. During the AISSEC 2014 conference the prize
was awarded to Irene Monasterolo (University of Bologna, Italy), for a
doctoral dissertation entitled: Analysing
convergence of agricultural and rural areas in the enlarged EU: the case of
Hungary. The AISSEC doctoral prize for 2016 has been awarded during the 57th Annual
Conference of the Italian Economic Association held in Milano (University "L.
Bocconi") on 20-22 October 2016. Click here

ex-aequo to Andrea Albanese (University of
Milano-Bicocca, Italy), for his dissertation entitled Employment of young

Association (in Italian) can be consulted and downloaded here. A norma dell'art.22 dello Statuto,
nell'Assemblea Straordinaria dell'AISSEC, che ebbe luogo a Trento il 24
ottobre 2014, sono state discusse ed approvate le seguenti variazioni dello
Statuto: Art.6 Sono soci ordinari di diritto, su loro
richiesta scritta, i professori di ruolo ordinari, straordinari o associati,
i professori incaricati, gli assistenti e i ricercatori di ruolo di
Università italiane (in servizio o in pensione) di discipline economiche e
chi ha conseguito un dottorato ad esse afferente. Tali discipline economiche
sono quelle elencate nei settori disciplinari SECS-P/01, SECS-P/02,
SECS-P/03. L'elenco delle discipline in questione può essere rivisto ed ampliato
dall'Assemblea dei soci. To become a member
of the AISSEC it is necessary to pay the biennial membership fee of 50 Euro (regular fee) or 30 Euro (PhD student and Post-Doctoral fellow fee). |
